FROM MARRAKECH TO ATLAS MOUNTAINS AND SAHARA DESERT
Detailed Itinerary
5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTSDAY 1: MARRAKECH - IMLIL VALLEY - TOUBKAL REFUGE (3207m)
Pick up from your hotel. Drive to Imlil where you meet our Berber muleteer team. Trek up past the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch to reach the Nelter Refuge, where you will spend the night preparing for the summit.
DAY 2: TOUBKAL REFUGE - SUMMIT TOUBKAL (4167m) - IMLIL
An early start to summit the highest peak in North Africa. Enjoy spectacular panoramic views over the Atlas ranges and the pre-Sahara. Descend back to the refuge for lunch, then all the way down to Imlil for the night.
DAY 3: IMLIL - AIT BENHADDOU - OUARZAZATE - DADES VALLEY
Trade the mountains for the desert road. We drive over the Tizi n'Tichka pass to the famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, then onwards past the Valley of Roses to our accommodation in Dades Valley.
DAY 4: DADES GORGES - TODRA GORGES - MERZOUGA DESERT
Continue to Todra Gorges, walking beneath the massive 300m cliffs. In the afternoon, arrive at the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. Take a camel ride into the dunes for a stunning sunset and night at a traditional Berber camp.
DAY 5: MERZOUGA DESERT - DRAA VALLEY - MARRAKECH
Catch the sunrise over the golden dunes before riding back to the hotel. We take a different route back to Marrakech via the expansive palm groves of the Draa Valley and across the Anti-Atlas mountains.
